CAGY 614 |
Description: |
This picture was taken from the back of the car "King Cotton", a Columbus & Greenville passenger car. This picture was taken on a passenger special that ran between Greenwood and Winona for one week each spring for a few years during the early 90's. These specials conisted of a few passenger cars and 2 C&G engines. The train was sponsored by a group of people out of Carrollton. In this picture, they are in the process of running around the train to go back to Carrollton. This siding is just east of the IC diamond. This line is currently out of service between Greenwood and West Point. |

Beginning of the End |
Description: |
The City of New Orleans departs Grenada for the last time. As this train leaves it takes with it the Grenada District's main line status; shortly afterward the speed limits would drop to 40 MPH, then to 25 MPH, we would eventually lose all 4 pig trains, and we would even lose our guarantee that we would have a railroad at all. If you look under the rear door, someone wrote the number 59, which is this train's number. |

Description: |
Fred Goff and I before going to work on the Grenada Switcher. It was about this time that the old heads in Grenada would allow me to start working the ground with them at the age of 13. Fred retired in 2004 with 34 years of service. I hired out in with CN in Memphis as a conductor in 2006 and got promoted into engine service in 2011. I got to work out of Grenada on and off for 3 years before they sold the railroad. |
