Viewing Album: Conrail’s Juniata shops and Altoona graveyard in August, 1978

Album Info:
On August 18 and 21, 1978, the Juniata backshop included former EL, RDG, and PC 4-axle EMDs, an ex-PC SD40 and SD45, an ex-CNJ RS3, and a PC six-axle Alco all in various states of service or salvage. In the nearby deadlines, many former EL and PC RS-3’s, EL and NYC E-8A’s, a PC RS-11 and RS27, and a RDG SW-1 filled the rows of dead units. Some were stenciled CR, but many remained to the end in their predecessor road’s colors and road numbers.
