Album Info:Rolling stock with road numbers starting with 20 to 29 - Coil Steel Wagons, Bulkhead Flats, Container Flats and Gondolas. Since the two sides of all wagon types are different, I treated the side on which the vacuum pipes are mounted, or where this was not practical, the side on which the brake wheel is mounted to the left of centre, as Side B. Further, since they describe brake systems and not wagon types, I left out the letters D, L, R, V and J in the wagon letter codes. Where applicable, the various complete letter codes and new class numbers for each wagon are included in brackets in the descriptions. The meaning of these omitted letters follow below.

D in position 2, 3 or 4: Dual Power Vacuum Brakes.

L in position 2, 3 or 4: Air Brakes.

R in position 2, 3 or 4: Dual Power Air Brakes.

V in position 3 or 4: Vacuum Brakes.

J in position 2, 3 or 4: Vacuum Brakes with Rejection Lugs on Brake Shoes.

Also, since many of the container flats were reclassified over the years, I found it more practical and less confusing to sort them according to their numbers and their original as delivered class numbers.

SAR Class SH-11 (Side A)
Title:  SAR Class SH-11 (Side A)
Description:  Class SH-11 (SHLJ-11) wagons entered service in 1982 and are flat wagons with solid decks and retractable twistlocks designed to transport 4 x 10ft, 2 x 20ft or 1 x 40ft containers as well as heavy road vehicles. For the road vehicle transport role each wagon comes with two bridge beams (absent on this one) that are stowed on the sides, and with a tie-down equipment storage bin that is accessed through a hole in the deck. None of these wagons have buffers to prevent container doors from being opened, probably as a result of their dual role.
Number range 23 023 554 to 23 024 291, Length between couplers 14.482m, Length over headstocks 12.190m, Length between bogie pivot centres 9.290m, Deck height 1.090m, Width 2.600m, Tare (average) 20,240kg, Load 48,000kg, Deck area 27.5m3.
