Title:
DCRY 3
Description:
Detroit Citizens Railway 3 and 4 at Detroit, Michigan on March 27, 1983, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 3 was built in 1899 by the Saint Louis Car Company for the Compania Carro de Ferro de Lisboa, ( CCFL ), Lisbon, Portugal, one of 75 single truck closed cars on Job 84. The 75 cars were of 900 mm gauge, road numbers 1-75, later renumbered 400-474. Number 3 was number 469 in Lisbon. Number 4 is a little more difficult to pin down. One source claims that Number 4 was also from Lisbon, built by StLCC in 1925, but I cannot confirm that in the book, From Horsecars To Streamliners, An Illustrated History of the Saint Louis Car Company. The book notes that cars 405, 412, 457, and 469 from Lisbon were sold to the City of Detroit in 1976, becoming DCRY 1, 2, parts, and 3, in that sequence.
