Description:
Three BN GP30s accelerate Inside Gateway train 137 away from the crossing of SP's Modoc Line at Stronghold, CA. Looks like the engineer has isolated the lead unit for a quieter ride. The open hoppers first out in the train will be set out at Tionesta for pumice loading, used to make Lava brand soap! Lead unit BN 2247 is ex-CB&Q 970, was sold for scrap to PNC 8/87. Date approximate.
