PRR 2-10-2 #9721 - Pennsylvania RR |
Description: |
The caption written by photographer C.W. Burns (an engineer in his own right) is "Taking on water at Alliance, Ohio." This is a fine example of a 1919 Alco built "Santa Fe" type locomotive equipped with 62" drivers, developing 215 psi boiler pressure for its 30"x32" cylinders. The total engine weight hovered at 535,000 lbs and generated a massive 84,890 lb of tractive effort. In 1949, this beautiful brute was scrapped. This is a 1969 reprint from CW Burns negative. |
