Up until the early 1950's the main line of the Southern Pacific was double-tracked between Bayou Sale (milepost 95.6) and Cade, Louisiana (M.P. 132.1). Thirty years later, the only evidence of this was the "double wide" swing bridge over the Charenton Drainage and Navigation Canal (M.P. 104.1) at Baldwin. The Baldwin depot was a mile away, right on the other side of the water tower. |
