PRR 9218, BS-6A, c. 1956
Here is a photo of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9218, a BS-6A switcher built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in December of 1948, rated at 660 horsepower, and retired in December of 1965 after just 17 years of revenue service. Note the all-steel coaling tower, rendered obsolete by oil-guzzlers like these! The photographer's name, the road numbers of the other locomotives pictured here, as well as the exact date and the location, are not recorded. Raymond C. Laws Collection.
