| Just before the Rock Island went under in 1980, SP acquired the Golden State Route east of Santa Rosa NM, where ownership had changed from SP to Rock island. Along with that, they got RI's trackage rights into Kansas City over UP from Topeka. Heres one of the SPs trains on Rock Island trackage rights on the last leg into KC behind a trio of tunnel motors. |
