This is cool. My mom had a doctor way over near the river on E 63rd St back in the 60's and 70's. She'd always want to drive into the city from our house in Queens. She'd drive into Long Island City, where my dad would meet us after taking the IRT to 33rd St/Queens Blvd. He'd drive in, drop mom off, then we'd go park. Since the visits were fairly long, we'd usually go for a walk down to the end of the street, where there was a small park and we could see the East River. I was little in the mid 60's, born in 1959, and this was a treat for me, to sit where I could see the river and the traffic on it. Back then, there were still quite a few carfloat operations working to and from docks in Queens and the Bronx, and I recall seeing them pass by our perch. If dad took any photos, I have not found them. It would be a great comparison to see the cars of that era vs the cars today. Nice work here.
