BYC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken just West of the Brick Yard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 July 1955. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5712 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5712 was built in 1952. They're pulling Train #54 down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Altoona and points East. |
