| Truss-rod-equipped office car 12 HOUR OF FANTASY was 89 years old when it was photographed at Mobile, Alabama in early 1971. The car had been built by Harlan & Hollingsworth in March 1882 as St. Louis & San Francisco 1400. It was renumbered 9 on 28 April 1947, then 12 on 24 March 1948 and was used as a medical examining car beginning in July 1948. The car was retired in 1950 and sold into private ownership in May 1952, and was reportedly still around in 2020. (approximate date of photo) |
