DWCX 504 TOWERING PINE was the former Louisville & Nashville 6-section / 6-roomette / 4-double bedroom sleeper 3467, one of 29 Plan 4183 cars built for the L&N, NC&StL and C&EI in March-May 1953. DWCX was the reporting mark for Knoxville scrap dealer David Witherspoon, and the car was on a special train arriving in New Orleans from Knoxville for the Tennessee-Air Force SUGAR BOWL the next day. The car was subsequently sold to the Griggsville Wild Bird Society of Griggsville, Illinois and used for overnight accommodations. |
