East Altoona. Here is a duplicate 35mm B&W slide that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1948. Prominent here is a Pennsylvania Railroad "J" Class (2-10-4) "Texas" steam locomotive heading toward the East Altoona Roundhouse. Behind it are several cabin cars awaiting their next assignments; beyond them is a remnant of the ramp which led up to the old coaling wharf. Photo taken from Juniata's 17th Street Bridge. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded. |
