Here is a rare photo of Milwaukee Road HH1000 #1670 built by Alco in April of 1940 originally as their Alco Demo #1000 (serial #69177). The "HH" stands for high hood and the HH1000 series was replaced by the Alco S2 switchers in their line up. A few online sources have another HH1000 listed as MILW 1671 (serial #69178) which was ordered after this one was built. but later renumbered MILW 820. The photo was taken by Fred Ziebe. |
