Description:
This beautiful 4-6-2 Pacific built by Baldiwn in December of 1911 sits ready to roll in St Louis, MO. This photo is very similar to one I posted much earlier in the same location but slightly different. When the CE&I dieselized in the late 1940's and early 1950's, the entire class was scrapped. The loco was one of the early ones that was dismantled by the C&EI shops in April of 1948. Specs - K-2 class, Serial #37351, 73" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 26.5x28" cylinders, engine weight of 263,000 lb, tractive effort of 41,211 lb. Although no photographer was listed, the photo is from the Dave Shaw collection.

Description:
Nice example of a Baldwin K-2 4-6-2 Pacific built in December of 1911 for the Chicago & Eastern Illinois RR. Richard E. Prince Jr photo No date was given but since the tender is wearing the large "C&EI" letters, it must have been taken before 1941 when C&EI changed over to loco numbers on their tenders.

Another view of the Baldwin K-2 4-6-2 Pacific #1009 built in December of 1911 for the Chicago & Eastern Illinlos. No location, date or photographer was listed for the photo but since the tender carries the loco number, it must have been taken after 1941 when the rr changed tender markings.
